Moon Chairs for Dogs: A Great Idea

Most people would never have thought about getting one of these moon chairs for their dog to sleep on. Why would you? There all kinds of comfy little doggie mats and beds that are meant for pets. That is exactly what I thought until this happened:

I got my first moon chair about 3 years ago. It was one of those really big red moon chairs with a thick and comfy cushion. The chair came in this big cardboard box, which I opened up and afterward pulled the parts out. It needed to be put together, so I was fastening the little nuts and bolts with that tiny wrench that they give you when you buy put-it-together-yourself furniture.

While I was busy doing this, my little beagle dog was lying on the floor moon chairs for dogswatching me curiously. I soon had the frame put together, so I took the big cushion out and put it on the moon chair frame. As soon as I had the cushion on the chair, the pup got up and jumped right onto the chair! I hadn’t even had a chance to try it out myself, and she curled up in the middle. I tried to get her to jump off, but she wouldn’t budge! Finally, I had to pick her up and put her on her own bed.

After a few days of the dog jumping onto my big red moon chair when we weren’t home, I decided to get one for her. My huge moon chair cost $100, and I sure wasn’t going to spend that on the dog, so I got her one that was meant for kids that is the same color (I’m well aware that dogs can’t see colors, but I did it anyway). She is a small beagle anyway, so a small kids moon chair was fine for her. She jumps onto her little red chair every evening and snores away all night. In my opinion, that is $20 well spent, especially when you compare the cost of moon chairs for kids to nice doggie beds. The size of moon chairs for dogs will depend on the size and weight of the dog. If your dog is a large breed, you will probably have to get them a larger chair, since kids moon chairs are too small for big dogs. As a final note, moon chairs for dogs are only a good idea if your dog isn’t too old to jump in and out of the seat.
